Title:NON-ARTISTIC TEXTS IN NURSERY SCHOOL
Abstract:The diploma thesis entitled Non-artistic texts in nursery school is focused on the combination of theory and empirical analysis. The following are the goals and the aims of the theoretical part of the thesis: to specify the children's speech development and the associated influencing factors, to highlight preschool speech activities, based on the National Document for Preschool Education in Slovenia, Curriculum for Preschool Institutions, and to introduce non-artistic texts as essential component of the book collections in preschool education. The empirical part of the paper deals with the research of the use of non-artistic text in nursery school. Mainly, I focused on whether the nursery’s library and class book corners also offer non-artistic texts and what type of non-artistic literature is mostly used by childcare workers when they are planning and implementing educational work in the first and second age group. Also, I tried to establish, which speech encouraging activities take place in the nursery by using non-artistic or pragmatic texts and which topics have been discussed. In order to do that, I formulated a questionnaire for childcare workers. All research questions were answered, showing considerable usage of non-artistic texts. The suppositions were almost wholly rejected, which turned out to be a positive result, as non-artistic texts are used in both preschool age groups.
Keywords:Preschool children's speech, preschool language activities, non-artistic texts, non-artistic literature, library, book corners.
