Title:SOCIAL ACTIVISM ON THE INTERNET
Abstract:In modern times, a big part of human activity is moved to the Internet. In this thesis, therefore, instead of the system of computer networks, we identified Internet as a social component, through which social movement mobilization is possible. Thus, we investigated the possibility and importance of new technologies for social activism to be organized and implemented. Also we tried to figure the actual capabilities of such online activism. Further, we analyzed the anti-government protests in Egypt in January and February 2011 which were organized on the Internet and which increasingly stressed the importance of online social networks.
Keywords:Internet, social movements, protest, activism, social media
