Abstract:
Danes veliko groţnjo okolju predstavlja cestni promet. Vse več podjetij za distribucijo uporablja cestni prevoz, vedno več ljudi uporablja osebna vozila kot edino prevozno sredstvo ter tako povzroča precejšnjo škodo okolju in ogroţa svoje zdravje. Zaradi ugodne geografske lege Slovenije in posodobljene cestne infrastrukture je cestni tovorni promet v stalnem porastu in predstavlja škodljive vplive na okolje. Cilj evropske in slovenske prometne politike je preusmeriti cestni tovorni promet na bolj racionalne oblike transporta oziroma na kombinirani transport. V Sloveniji prevladuje motorizirani promet. Gosto cestno omreţje je povzročilo manjšo uporabo javnega potniškega prometa ter tako povečalo netrajnosten način prevoza oziroma individualni prevoz. Zaradi vse večje uporabe zasebnega prevoza so se povečali izpusti toplogrednega plina ogljikovega dioksida.

NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF ROAD TRAFFIC ON ENVIRONMENT
Abstract:
Road traffic presents a serious danger to the environment nowadays. More and more companies use road traffic for the distribution of products, more people use cars as their only way of transport and thus they cause damage to the environment and they also endanger their health. The road traffic in Slovenia is in constant increase, due to modernized road infrastructure and also the specific geographical position of Slovenia, causing negative effects on the environment. The goal of Slovenian and European traffic policy is to redirect the road traffic to more rational ways of transport or to combined ways of transport. Motorized traffic prevails in Slovenia. Dense traffic network has resulted in reduced use of public transport and it has increased non-sustainable individual transport which results in increased emission of greenhouse gases, namely carbon dioxide.
