Abstract:V Sloveniji predstavlja samomor velik javnozdravstveni problem, saj imamo že več desetletij visok količnik samomorilnosti v primerjavi z drugimi državami. Vedno večja problematika je tudi samomor med starostniki, ki je v zadnjih letih v porastu. V diplomskem delu predstavljamo najpogostejše vzroke za samomor med starejšimi, kot so depresija, demence, osamljenost, kronična bolezenska stanja in revščina. Predstavili smo pristop in obliko pomoči predvsem v terapevtski komunikaciji, medicinske sestre starostniku v zanj čustveno in fizično napornem, obdobju. Metodologija raziskovanja. V raziskavi smo uporabili kvantitativno metodologijo raziskovanja z uporabo delno strukturiranega vprašalnika. Raziskavo smo izvedli v domu starejših Maribor. Anketna vprašalnika sta sestavljena iz vprašanj za starostnike in za člane negovalnega tima. V raziskavi je sodelovalo 30 starostnikov in 30 oseb negovalnega tima. Raziskava je bila izvedena meseca marca 2011. Rezultati. Po mnenju anketiranih starostnikov je med glavnimi vzroki za samomor bolezen, sledita osamljenost in duševna stiska. Po mnenju negovalnega tima je vodilni vzrok za samomor pri starejših depresija. Iz raziskave je razvidno, da so medicinske sestre v domu za starejše sorazmerno dobro seznanjene z vzroki samomora ter navajajo, da imajo dovolj znanja in izkušenj pri prepoznavi samomorilno ogroženega starostnika. Sklep. Medicinske sestre na različnih področjih dela, potrebujejo ustrezno znanje o dejavnikih tveganja za samomor in oblikah pomoči. Takšno znanje se lahko zagotovi s kontinuiranem izobraževanjem in izpopolnjevanjem na področju, ki zajema pravočasno prepoznavo in obravnavo samomorilno ogroženega starostnika.

Title:Causes of suicide in elderly
Abstract:In Slovenia is suicide a major public health problem, because we have several decades of high ratio of suicide compared to other countries. The growing problem of suicide is among the elderly, which in recent years is on the rise. This thesis presents the most common causes of suicide among the elderly, such as depression, dementia, loneliness, chronic medical conditions and poverty. We presented our approach and the kind of assistance particularly in therapeutic communication nurse to the elderly person in this emotionally and physically stressful period. The methodology of the survey. In this study we used quantitative research methodology with the partially structured questionnaire. The research was conducted in a home for older, Maribor. The questionnaire consists of two issues for the elderly and members of the nursing team. The study included 30 elderly and 30 persons of nursing team. The survey was conducted in March 2011. Results. According to the interviewed older people are the leading causes of suicide disease, isolation and mental distress. According to the nursing team is depression the leading cause of suicide in the elderly. The research reveals that nurses in home for the elderly is relatively well informed about the causes of suicide, indicating that they have sufficient knowledge and experience in the identification suicidal elderly at risk. Conclusion. Nurses in various areas of work need adequate knowledge of risk factors for suicide in the elderly and different forms of assistance. Such knowledge may be provided only with continuous education and training in the area, which includes timely identification and treatment of suicidal elderly at risk.
