V teoretičnem delu smo podrobneje opisali značilnosti predšolskega otroka, njegove razvojne značilnosti in razvojne potrebe.

Title:IMPORTANCE OF SYSTEMATIC HEALTH CHECKS ON THE PRESERVATION AND STRENGTHENING OF HEALTH IN PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN
Abstract:The thesis entitled The importance of systematic health checks to maintain and promote health of preschool children focuses on systematic health checks of children and the factors that affect a child’s healthy development. The theoretical part contains a detailed description of the characteristics of a preschool child, including its developmental characteristics and needs. I have examined the factors that affect a child’s healthy development, such as healthy food, exercise, environment, family, education, preventive health checks, child-care facilities, peers, resting, fresh air, personal hygiene, vaccination, communication, dental prevention and sun exposure. In addition, I have described the health care system at primary level and the importance of preventive health checks of preschool children. The empirical part presents the results of a research, which involved 55 parents of children from the kindergarten Gorišnica. By means of a survey questionnaire I wanted to determine whether their children are attending systematic health checks regularly, furthermore whether the parents believe that systematic health checks are important for maintaining and promoting the health of preschool children, and finally whether the parents believe that possible childhood diseases and developmental disorders can be identified at regular systematic health checks. Results have shown that children are indeed attending systematic health checks regularly, and that parents are aware of the importance of this for a healthy development of their child. Also, parents agreed that possible childhood diseases and developmental disorders can be identified at regular systematic health checks.
Keywords:preschool child, factors of a healthy development, systematic health checks, vaccination, parents.
