Title:ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY - A COMPARISON BETWEEN SLOVAKIA AND SLOVENIA
Abstract:In our graduate seminar we discussed the area of economic diplomacy, which is a part of foreign policy and is also connected with international relationships. Therefore, we firstly explain what foreign policy is and also write about its resources and decision-making. That is followed by definition of international relationships, along with some theories in this field. One of the tools of country’s foreign policy is diplomacy, which presents the central theme of the seminar. We first give some definitions of it and then add a brief overview of its development; finally we present some subtypes of diplomacy. One of these is economic diplomacy, which primarily operates on a bilateral level between countries, although many experts also include activities on a multilateral level in the same category. In fifth chapter we shortly evaluate the situation of economic diplomacy in times of financial and economic crisis, followed by a chapter where we compare Slovenia and Slovakia. In the beginning we display the economic cooperation between the two countries, then later we describe the economic diplomacy of both and in the end show what the cooperation between economic diplomacy of both countries consist of.
