Title:RESTRUCTURING OF ENTITIES IN SLOVENIAN FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY
Abstract:Entrepreneurship is an integral part of business failure, but when someone does not want to recognize his final failure, there are three approaches to restructure entity before business failure, namely the restructuring of an entity, sale of an entity and restructuring of an entity by Phoenix activities. After 1991, due to Slovenia's independence from former State of Yugoslavia entities had to cope and restructure their activities to new market conditions. Footwear industry is very diverse. Therefore footwear production entities acquired various approaches to restructure of entities before business failure. Entities as Peko and Alpina hava acquired an approach of restructuring of an entity and have successfully restructured. Alpina also additionally acquired an approach of sale of an entity, which had a positive impact on success of the entity. Entity as Planika had (after second bankruptcy) acquired an approach of restructuring of an entity by Phoenix activities: on the ruins of the former bankrupt entity Planika established a new entity from the most successful part of the bankrupt entity. Today Planika is a very successful entity. Entities as Afit and Kopitarna have not had any problems before possible business failures, therefore have not acquired any approaches of entity’s restructuring. Results of analysis of Slovene footwear industry for the last 15 years reveals the presence of downward trend in number of entities and number of employees. Nevertheless analysis’ results reveal net profit is in slow upward trend. It can be concluded that until 2003 entities which were without profit have been cleared from the footwear industry market. After the 2003 the downward trend in number of entities slowed and the Slovene footwear industry for the first time since 2003 disclosed more industry revenues than industry expenses.
