Abstract:Občine na območju Upravne enote Škofja Loka (Gorenja vas – Poljane, Škofja Loka, Železniki, Žiri) so bile glede zaposlovanja in brezposelnosti dolga desetletja med najboljšimi v Sloveniji. Rezultate smo primerjali z Gorenjsko regijo in državo.

Title:EMPLOYMENT AND UNEMPLOYMENT IN THE AREA OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT ŠKOFJA LOKA
Abstract:Municipalities in the area of the Administrative unit Škofja Loka (Gorenja vas – Poljane, Škofja Loka, Železniki, Žiri) were among the best in Slovenia during decades in the matters of employment and unemployment. The unemployment in Slovenia had been reducing until 2008 and then started growing. In order to reduce the number of unemployed persons and increase employment, the government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted a variety of active employment policy measures, intended for unemployed persons and employees. These measures are described in the last part of this thesis. In the theoretical part, the definitions of the concepts, related to employment and unemployment were presented, also types of unemployment were described as well as the rights of the unemployed persons. In the empirical part of this thesis, a wide empirical investigation was conducted in order to verify four hypotheses. For the period between 2005 and 2009, key indicators in the area of employment and unemployment in the area of the Administrative unit Škofja Loka were analyzed. The results were compared with the Gorenjska region and the State. The results showed that this area is still in a favorable position according to the indicators, but the advantage decreased significantly, especially during the crisis.
