Diplomsko delo vsebuje teoretični in praktični del. V teoretičnem delu so opisane razvojne značilnosti otrok in motorični razvoj otrok med 3. in 12. letom. Tu so zajete osnovne značilnosti razvoja in povezovanje odraščanja z drsanjem.

Title:ICE SKATING COURSE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
Abstract:The purpose of this graduate thesis was to present a children’s ice skating course. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part, we illustrated the developmental characteristics of children and the development of motor skills in children aged 3 to 12 years. We examined how the general characteristics of development, the period of growing up and ice skating are interconnected. The bulk of the theoretical part is devoted to ice skating and its elements, such as equipment, the state of indoor skating rinks, skating in elementary schools and sports that can be played on ice. The practical part of the thesis focuses on methodic principles that help instructors carry out their work. Besides the principles, the basic elements of ice skating play the most important role in the execution of a course and are therefore extensively covered in the practical part. Every single element is described in detail from start to finish. Also, teaching needs to be accompanied by games, thus we have included examples of some simple games that can be incorporated in the first, main and last part of any exercise unit. The recommended structure of the course as well as some tips for instructors, the result of several years of experience, are included in the main part of the theses. The course is divided into 3 segments. The first segment is a beginners course, the second an intermediate course and the last an advanced course for very good skaters. Children aged 5 to 12 (or preschool through sixth grade elementary school children) participated in the courses. It is difficult to give statistical data, but we can say that it took a 5-day course to teach all children how to skate properly. Regardless of their aptitude, all children reached a level that enabled them to independently demonstrate their skating skills on the last day, when disco skating was organized for them. This means that the programs, presented in this theses, are suitable for teaching children ice skating. We believe that elementary schools should incorporate more ice skating into their curriculums. Every child can run or play ball outside, but not many experience ice skating in their childhood. It is thus wonderful to see the happy faces of both beginners and those with some skating experience. It is up to the instructors to encourage each and every child to try or even master ice skating and to show schools the main benefits of ice skating: motor skills and balance development. Precisely because of those two advantages ice skating should be given more emphasis in school curriculums.
