Title:ONLINE STORE: CASE OF EBAY PORTAL SITE
Abstract:In order to survive, adapting to changes in the business environment is essential for each and every company. Modern marketing is becoming the basic philosophy in all modern, marketing oriented companies. By means of electronic business, with the help of computers and computerising processes companies have updated a part of or the whole of their business, as for example, communication with suppliers and demanders, stocking, distribution, marketing, sale, etc. However, an electronic shop is only a part of a company’s electronic business. Online store benefits both salesmen and consumers. Consumers are satisfied because they are able to purchase goods effortlessly from their couch at any time of the day, thus, saving time, energy and stress, which usually comes with the traditional shopping (finding a parking space, communicating with the sales staff, etc.) Furthermore, salesmen gain an additional channel for selling their products or services, selling independent of time or space, global presence and bigger selectivity of potential consumers. I have chosen eBay, the online portal, as my representative example. Selling new or used products on eBay website (www.eBay.com) is the main source of income for numerous people around the world. These people do not merely sell things they no longer need, they have indeed made a business out of it.
