Abstract:	Kriza javnih pokojninskih sistemov je prisotna v skoraj vseh družbah, saj prihodki (davki in prispevki) ne dohajajo pravic in obveznosti, ki izhajajo iz sistema. Na prvi pogled je rešitev preprosta, vrzel v pokojninski blagajni bi lahko odpravili s podaljševanjem aktivne dobe ali s poviševanjem prispevnih stopenj ali pa z zniževanjem pokojnin. Zniževanje pokojnin ali poviševanje prispevnih stopenj nista realni rešitvi, saj so pokojnine že sedaj zelo nizke, zviševanje prispevnih stopenj pa bi še povecalo stroške dela in tako še zmanjšalo konkurencnost slovenskega gospodarstva. Zato je edina logicna rešitev podaljševanje aktivne dobe. A ce želimo podaljšati dobo delovne aktivnosti moramo nujno povišati upokojitveno starost, cemur pa javnost mocno nasprotuje. Javnost povišanju upokojitvene starosti nasprotuje tudi zaradi strahu pred povecanjem brezposelnosti, ki je v casu gospodarske krize že tako visoka. Vendar empiricne raziskave te domneve ne potrjujejo, ampak dokazujejo celo nasprotno.

Title:	THE IMPACT OF PENSION REFORM (PROLONGING RETIREMENT AGE) ON UNEMPLOYMENT
Abstract:	The crisis of public pension systems is present in almost all societies, as revenue (taxes and contributions) are not catching up with the rights and obligations arising from the system. At first glance, the solution is simple, the gap in the pension fund could be resolved by extending the active period, or, increasing contribution rates or by reducing pensions. Lowering pensions or raising of pension contribution rates are not real solutions, since pensions are already very low, increasing the contribution rates would further increase labor costs and thus further reduce the competitiveness of Slovenian economy. Therefore, the only logical solution is to prolonging working life. But if we want to extend working life we need to raise the retirement age, to which the public is strongly opposed. The public opposes raising the retirement age, among other things, because of fear of increased unemployment, which in times of economic crisis is already high. However, empirical studies do not confirm this hypothesis, but proving the contrary.
