| Abstract: | The significance of the securities market and the development of electronic systems for dealing in securities increases year by year and presents a crucial part of the financial market. The need for innovating and following the trends occures in our market as well. Thus, the Ljubljana Stock Exchange carried out the last traditional trading of stockbrokers on exchange parquet in 1995. Soon after that, the first systems of online stock brokerage, intended for natural persons, started to develop for dealing in securities.
With the accession to the EU, we opened up a gate to the simpler connections with the other stock exchanges elsewhere in Europe and abroad. However, with the accession to the European Monetary Union (EMU), the member states will have lower transaction costs, as the currency exchange will not be required, making any related currency risk disappear.
In the first section of my diploma thesis, I devoted my attention to the concept of e-bussiness. I defined the concept of e-business from the view of individual authors, capturing the forms and ways of reorganization of work in businesses after its introduction. I tried to explain to the reader the main characteristics relating to the computerization of business systems.
In the second section of my diploma thesis, I focused on the concept of stock exchange. If the main emphasis in my diploma thesis lies on securities, it is right for us to find out something about stock exchange, as the first association – when we think of securities – is inevitable. In this section, I described the sole beginnings of the development of the stock exchange, then I continued with the stock exchange principles and the sole trade at the stock exchange. Further on, I summerized the securities market in Slovenia, from the Ljubljana Stock Exchange of Securities to the Securities Market Agency. At the end of the second section, I summerized the concepts, which every potential stock exchange participant must know for successful dealing in securities.
In the last section, I summerized the concept of e-brokerage (online brokerage), defined the roles in the process of trading and focused on the analysis of the online trading system GDB Online. Further on, I described the use of the system and explained some functions it offers. Based on the sole analysis of the system, I made a table with the assessment of the online system, where I laid down the findings and made suggestions on the basis of chosen elements. |
