Mednje sodijo Alžirija, Bahrajn, Egipt, Irak, Jordanija, Kuvajt, Maroko, Oman, Palestina, Tunizija, Združeni arabski emirati in Jemen. Anketirala sem odgovore 22 Arabk, zaposlenih v medijski hiši Al-Jazeera.

Title:FEMINIZATION IN THE ARAB MEDIA
Abstract:In it’s beginning the diploma work “Feminization in Arab media” introduces us with concepts, such as Arab world, Arab women, Arab media and feminism. These concepts are key in the understanding of the diploma. The chapter Islam feminism greets us with it’s terminological use and distinction from the term Muslim feminism. It also leads us through Islamic feminist movements. The diploma encompasses a historical overview of women in the Arab world, a review of Arab media and a presentation of the beginnings of female journalism in the Arab world. The chapter about Arab journalists also includes a positive description of media impact and the consequences bestowed upon journalists because of their presence in the media. This is followed by chapters concerning the impact of satellite broadcasting on Arab culture and consequently on Arab journalists as well as the effect of information and communication technologies on journalism. The largest chapter is an overview of the state and position of twelve Arab-world countries. Among these are Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Tunisia, The United Arab Emirates and Yemen. Each country is presented separately as well as the position of women and the share of employed women per country. The chapter describes the state of female journalists, how it is taken care of their education, which faculties, if any, provide the study of journalism, and how many of those that finally become professional journalists are also members of the journalist union. The last chapter is an analysis of the empirical part. I have surveyed 22 Arab women that are employed in the Al-Jazeera media house.
