Tipična glasbila v klezmerju so klarinet, violina, harmonika, kitara, cimbale, violončelo in kontrabas.

Title:KLEZMER TROUGH TIME AND ITS MODERN PERFORMING PRACTICE IN SLOVENIA
Abstract:Klezmer is a Jewish musical tradition, originating from southeastern Europe. Since music played an important role in Jewish culture, klezmer musicians were present at the majority of Jewish traditional events. The style of klezmer can be identified by its characteristic expressive melodies, which remind of the human voice, laughing and weeping. The typical instruments used in klezmer are the clarinet, violin, accordion, guitar, cimbalom, cello and string bass. The musical tradition was mainly orally transmitted, but this transmission broke down due to a mass migration of Jews and as a result of cultural assimilation and a particularly difficult position of Jews migrating in search of a better life. However, there was a revival of klezmer around 1980, started by prominent Jewish musicians who moved to the USA during the Holocaust. It has been preserved until today by the Yiddish-speaking Jews and its gaining popularity also among people of non-Jewish origin. In Slovenia, the Jewish culture and klezmer are also maintained among Slovenian musicians, who perform the traditional as well as modern repertoire of klezmer music.
