Abstract:Eksperimentalno delo v šolskih kemijskih laboratorijih je ključna metoda poučevanja in učenja na stopnji osnovnega in srednjega kemijskega izobraževanja (Sikošek, b.l.).

Title:THE INTENDED FUNCTION AND SAFE USAGE OF THE CHOSEN INSTRUMENTS IN THE SCHOOL CHEMISTRY LABORATORIES
Abstract:The experimental work within school chemistry laboratories certainly represents one of key methods of teaching and learning at the elementary and high-school level of education in the field of chemistry (Sikošek, b.l.). By conducting experiments, the pupils and students develop various techniques of experimental approch, using different simple instruments and laboratory equipment that enable them to measure and observe numerous phenomena (Vrtačnik et. al., 2000). The range of instruments required for experimental work at every elementary and high school is defined in handbooks »Recommended teaching instruments for nine-year elementary school« and »Standards and normatives concerning the equipment used for chemistry education«. In my diploma I focused mainly on representation of practical usage regarding six modern instruments that are considered as required inventory of teaching equipment (centrifuge, analytical balance, precision balance, conductivity meter, laboratory pH meter and waterproof pH meter and temperature meter), together with four modern high-standard devices that would surely contribute to the simplification and quality of some experiments which are foreseen in the present curricula (electronic bar blender, Kipp's apparatus, vacuum membrane pump and evaporator). Educational institutions are also supposed to include a safe working and teaching environment. For that reason, I also provided an evaluation of safety concerning the usage of all ten instruments/devices.
