Abstract:Prosti čas je zelo pomembno življenjsko področje, saj vpliva na osebni razvoj, socializacijo, ustvarjalnost, nudi nam sprostitev ter nam daje nove moči za nadaljnje vsakodnevne obveznosti.

Title:WAYS OF SPENDING FREE TIME IN DIFFERENT GENERATIONS OF PUPILS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
Abstract:Free time is a very important area of life, because it influences the personal development, socialization, creativeness, it offers us relaxation and provides us with new strength for further daily commitments. All this and more are reasons, why we should use it as qualitatively as possible. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis we presented different ways of spending free time, what its meaning is and how to use it qualitatively. We described the principles, factors and interests of using free time. We devoted a special chapter also to playing, as an important factor in spending free time. We presented its beginning and meaning, types of child's play and how we, the adults, influence child's play. We described sport, discussed its benefits and what we should do or change so that children would be more physically active. We also stressed the role of the media and technology (television, computer, the internet etc.). We pointed out the dangers that threaten the children, the responsibility of parental control and the negative consequences of the excessive use of the aforementioned in children. In the empirical part we used questionnaires to investigate, what meaning children nowadays give free time, how much free time they actually have and with what they occupy themselves the most. Parallel with that we also surveyed older generations. The results showed that today's primary school students are much more stressed than they were years ago. They lack free time which is a consequence of a jammed schedule in schools and too many extracurricular activities. Major differences appear also in ways of spending free time, because today's children use computer, television or technology in general too much, in contrast to older generations in their age who devoted their free time to sport, playing and nature more.
