Title:ECONOMIC RELATIONS BETWEEN THE EU AND THE AFRICAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITIES
Abstract:Economic relations between the European union and Africa have their roots in the colonial times, but it was a one sided relation, because Africa was exploited for its resources, and still has not recovered. Only in 1963 with the signing of the Yaounde convention Africa became more like a partner, and has also been given financial aid for development and different benefits for trade. Africa is slowly, but surely developing, also because of the economic communities, that are going to play an important role in the future development of Africa. It is important that the financial aid is invested in the most important sectors of the economy (build the appropriate infrastructure that would help to attract foreign investments; and also telecommunication). The European union is the most important trade partner for Africa because one third of Africa’s foreign exchange happens with the EU. I also think that it is important for Africa to invest more into education, because as an old saying goes:”Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to catch fish and he will eat for a lifetime.”
