Abstract:Komunikacija s pacienti in sodelavci je sestavni del poklicnega delovanja medicinske sestre.

Title:IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION IN A GENERAL PRACTICE CLINIC
Abstract:Communication with patients and co-workers is a constituent part of professional activity of a nurse. The importance of the professional communication in a general medical clinic and the factors which cause difficulties in communication between a nurse and a patient are presented. Furthermore, structural, process and result standards for patient admission to a general medical clinic are described. Research methodology. The research is based on quantitative methodology using close-ended questionnaire. The research sample includes 30 nurses and medical technicians, who are employed at general medical clinics. The research has been done in a medical centre and public-private health care. The results of the research. The set aims were achieved with the research and, at the same time, the obstacles for good and successful communication between a nurse and a patient were recognized. It was discovered that in respondents’ opinion the major obstacle to successful communication between a nurse and a patient is the lack of time, followed by being overburdened with other work, the lack of interest, will and knowledge. The research has shown that it is necessary to offer nurses more education or updating of skills in communication. In addition, it was determined that the communication with patients at a general medical clinic in the countryside differs from the communication with patients in a city. Conclusion. Communication is a process of transmission and reception of messages between people. It is a means that enables the exchange and the transfer of information. An approach that is intended for a patient can ease or remove many obstacles, which would intrude on patient’s treatment at a general medical clinic.
