Abstract:Vsako oblikovalsko delo temelji na poznavanju temeljnih elementov in principov oblikovanja.
Keywords:elementi in principi oblikovanja, spletno oblikovanje, odzivno spletno oblikovanje, postopno izboljševanje, značilnosti in omejitve spleta, CSS3, Media Query, HTML5, vključevanje pisav.

Title:MODERN APPROACHES TO WEBSITE DESIGN
Abstract:Any design work is based on knowledge of the basic elements and principles of design. The same goes for web design, where one must also master the technical aspect of the medium (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) in order to be successful. Web is evolving at an exponential rate and as a result the websites are becoming increasingly sophisticated and complex. Our tendency to build responsive websites, with progressive enhancement in mind is becoming more and more frequent because of its advantages. This way the design can be adapted to capabilities of different browsers as well as to different devices accessing the Internet. The biggest role in played by the CSS, more precisely by Media Queries which allow us to define how a website is going to adapt to all sorts of screen sizes. Besides the above-mentioned principles and approaches, the updated web standards HTML5 and CSS3 are also of extreme importance. The biggest advantages they bring is the semantic naming of the elements, custom font embedding, not to mention the rich visual effects like animations, etc ... As an example, we created a website that is based on art theory, responsive design, and updated features in CSS3 and HTML5 semantic labels.
Keywords:elements and principles of design, web design, responsive web design, progressive enhancement, web characteristic, CSS3, Media Query, HTML5, font embeding.
