Title:THE MEANING OF THE LANGUAGE TRAININGS IN SLOVENIAN ENTERPRISES
Abstract:Slovenian companies have got a great opportunity with the opening of the European Union market, but the fact is that even a good idea can fail due to lack of language knowledge and cultural differences. Purpose of this thesis is to present in theoretical part some basic theories of education in business, how are Slovenian companies facing within the process of globalization and internationalization with competition in foreign markets and what impact this has on education in business. Based on good practices of some European companies I will present some management strategies of language education, which by the survey of the European Union stand out as most successful. In this survey, where was as method used a questionnaire, I would like to find out whether the Slovenian companies are aware of how language skills of employees can contribute to company performance, do companies organize language training at all, how much do they invest in language trainings today and how much they invested 5 years ago. I wondered also whether the Slovenian companies operating in foreign markets generally use language strategy and do they want to have a help from European Union with their ideas and encouraging measures. The data obtained through a survey showed that companies are aware of the importance language training and knowledge of English still remains as the language of Europe. But certainly can be argued that well-formed linguistic strategy still remains a foreign to the majority of Slovenian companies. The main findings of the thesis is that by taking some of the language measures Slovenian companies could achieve much greater success in foreign markets as they are achieving in existing situation.
