Abstract:Bolezni srca in ožilja so najpogostejše bolezni v razvitih državah. Povzročajo nenadno smrt in velik odstotek invalidskih upokojitev. Napete socialne in ekonomske razmere, pogoji in način življenja pa njihovo pogostost še povečujejo. Imenujemo jih tudi bolezni civilizacije. Preventiva teh bolezni ima vse večji socialno-medicinski pomen. V Sloveniji imamo preventivni program Svetovne zdravstvene organizacije imenovan CINDI.

Title:PREVENTION OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
Abstract:Cardiovascular diseases are the most frequent diseases in developed countries. They cause sudden death and a large percentage of disability retirement. Their frequency is increased by strained social and economic conditions, living conditions and lifestyle. We also refer to them as diseases of civilization. The prevention of these diseases has gained more social and medical significance. In Slovenia, there is a prevention program by the World Health Organization called CINDI. In this diploma thesis, we present cardiovascular diseases, risk factors for the beginning of cardiovascular diseases, awareness of people included in the research about such diseases and the role of the nurse with cardiovascular disease prevention. In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis, we present the anatomy of the heart and blood vessels, cardiovascular diseases, the national program for primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the role of the nurse with cardiovascular disease prevention. In the empirical part, we present a research, which was conducted at the Splošna bolnišnica dr. Jožeta Potrča Ptuj with the aid of a poll. We have established that people know little about prevention programs for prevention of cardiovascular diseases and are therefore rarely included in these programs. Regarding the acquired information, we have established that a great deal of people included in the research have an unhealthy lifestyle. We have concluded that people consider given instructions regarding taking prescribed therapy, but are willing to do little when it comes to changing their lifestyle. It appears the saying “Old habits die hard” is most certainly true.
