Title:The life of Patients Treated with Specific Immunotherapy
Abstract:The theoretical part of the thesis titled Life of the Patients Treated with Specific Immunotherapy explains in details the types (stages) of allergies, the most common diagnostic procedures to confirm allergies and the most common allergies for adults (food allergy, allergy to animal hair, dust mite allergy, pollen allergy, allergy to medicine, allergy to insect bites). We defined the term allergy and explained in detail the prevention and treatment of a specific allergy, and the role of the nurse in the process. Regarding the treatment of the allergies, we explained in detail one of the most effective treatments – the specific immunotherapy. The specific immunotherapy is a causal treatment of the allergy, its main process being the reaction between the patient’s IgE antibodies and the administered allergen. The empirical part of the thesis shows the results of a survey among the patients who have been receiving the specific immunotherapy in the dispensary for allergies of the hospital Bolnišnica Topolšica. The research was based on the quantitative method of work using a survey. The purpose of the research was to discover if patients know enough about the treatment and how to help themselves with a certain allergy and how much their health improved after receiving the specific immunotherapy.
