Pridobljene podatke smo statistično obdelali in grafično prikazali s pomočjo računalniških programov Microsoft Exel in Microsoft Word.

Title:Expression of non-verbal communication by crying in children
Abstract:In direct eye - to - eye communication, beside the words, we can also find a presence of signs of non – verbal communication, which we on principle trust more than verbal component, because the non – verbal signs, in most cases, tell us more than the words itself. Non - verbal communication starts to evolve in human beings at a very early stage. Cry is one of the earliest forms of non – verbal communication. A child uses this sign to inform us that he needs us or that something is wrong. The purpose is to introduce communication and the development of speech. We exposed a cry as the only manner of expressing communication at new-borns, prematurely born babies and infants. With the research we wanted to discover what is the nurse ´ with part and non-verbal communication with child and the influence of parents ' presence on a child during his/her hospitalization. Research methodology: In our diploma thesis composition, we used the quantitative methodology. We introduced the theoretical basis with the help of national and foreign literature. We used an anonymous survey, assigned to nurses and medical technicians, employed at the Paediatric Department of Splošna bolnišnica Slovenj Gradec, to gather the information. 25 members of nursing team were included in research. Gathered information was statistically processed and graphically presented with the help of computer software Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Results: We have discovered that the non – verbal communication is extremely important in work with a child and that nurses are aware of that fact, because they think that non – verbal communication is the most important way of correspondence between a hospitalized child and themselves. Nurses who work with children are aware of importance of child`s crying, because a child expresses his/her needs through it. That is why we have to react to a cry in the shortest time possible and in an appropriate manner. Conclusion: The study shows that nurses are aware of the importance of nonverbal communication with the child, and they also use it all the time at work. Through the years of working they learned what children express through crying and how to properly cheer them.
