Keywords:Funkcija povpraševanja po denarju, realni bruto domači proizvod, denarni agregat M1, obrestna mera zakladnih menic, metoda najmanjših kvadratov.

Title:ESTIMATION OF MONEY DEMAND FUNCTION FOR CANADA FOR THE PERIOD 2003-2010
Abstract:A stable money demand function forms the core in the conduct of monetary policy as it enables a policy-driven change in monetary aggregates to have predictable influences on output, interes trate, and ultimately on price. Empirical studies of money demand shows positive dependence of monetary agregate with real income and negative dependence of monetary agregate with interest rates. The properly specified model turned out to be a linear model with a lagged dependent variable. In estimating the money demand function for Canada for the period of 2003-2010, we found that the estimated regression coefficients are in accordance with the economic theory. With help of the Chow's test we have found that there are differences between the first (2003-2006) and second period (2007-2010), because of the sign of the estimated regression coefficients.
Keywords:Money demand function, real gross domestic product, monetary agregate M1, treasury bill rate, least squares method.
