V kontrolni jati (zgornja etaža) so imele živali 24-urno osvetlitev, medtem ko so imele živali v testni jati (spodnja etaža) 21-urno osvetlitev in 3-urno temo.

Title:The effect of lightning technology on the physiological status, health and production results in turkey breeding
Abstract:In 2009, the family farm Juhart set an experiment trying to figure out the effect of lightning technology on the physiological status, health and production results in turkey breeding. The breeding of 2200 male turkeys and 2400 female turkeys provenance BIG-6 extended in the domestic two-level farm from 29. 7. to 26. 12. 2009. The experiment started with the age of 28 days or with the displacement of the animals in both floors. In the control flock (upper floor) the animals were exposed to 24 hour lightning. The animals in the experimental flock (lower floor) had 21 hours of light and 3 hour of dark. With the female turkeys we could not ascertain any statistically significant differences not even in the final body weight that was achieved in the week 14. The average body weight in both flocks was 9.41 kg. The normative value was exceeded by the both flocks for 0.81 kg. It was different for the male turkeys, because they were in their last weighing before the slaughter (week 20). The animals in the experimental flock were for 0.91 kg heavier. This causes the statistically significant difference (P=0.026). According to this result we can conclude that the difference in body mass is the consequence of way of lightning.
