Title:EVALUATION OF INTERNSHIP OF PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNICIAN
Abstract:The education of personnel is a very demanding and responsible task, especially the education of interns, who are being trained to perform their tasks and assignments independently after passing the state exam. In year 2011, I carried out myself an internship of pharmacy technician, and had an opportunity to come to know more closely the work of the pharmacy technician, the programme and the organisation of the internship, the assignments and the obligations of an intern, the organisation of the state exam and last but not least the work of a mentor. Because of my own personal experience and the importance of the internship as a form of training for work, I have decided to conduct a research on this theme. In my diploma thesis I wanted to find out if the organisation of the internship is suitable, if the adequate materials are used in educating interns and if mentors have enough time to work with the inters, considering their own large scope of work they have to do. Next I wanted to know the percentage of the successful passing of the state exam in year 2011 and whether the interns received enough knowledge to enable them to work independently in the course of internship. I used an evaluation to find the answers to my questions and tried to evaluate the internship of a pharmacy technician in year 2011. The evaluation was conducted as a systematic gathering of information and data from scientific and technical literature, and useful extracts from other literature. I used the inquiry as a way to conduct my research. Then I processed and analysed the obtained data and at the end I added some suggestions for improvements in this field. Numerous mistakes appeared in the analyses of the results of the inquiry at the performance of internship of pharmacy technician. The answer analysis clearly shows that while the theoretical part of the internship is well organised, the practical part lacks the organisation. The majority of the interviewees answered that during their internship they didn’t have the opportunity to work with different materials and didn’t work on all the areas that are essential to every pharmacy technician who wants to work successfully. Therefore, it isn’t surprising that only 50% of the people who participated in the inquiry, didn’t felt qualified enough for independent work after passing the state exam. Performance at the state exam is 100% even if the findings of my research show that the majority of shortcomings are derived from the unsatisfactory work of mentors. I wish that my assignment would contribute at least a little to better running of the internship and would enable more exemplary education for the future interns.
