Title:INFLUENCE OF FUELS ON DIESEL ENGINE CHARACTERISTICS
Abstract:The purpose of the diploma work is to investigate the influence of the use of different fuel types on the characteristics of the current diesel engine by a numeric simulation and to establish the possibilities of biodiesel fuel use in a diesel engine with an electronic injection system. To investigate the influence of the resistance of different fuel types I have created a test model in the AVL Boost program. In order to achieve as precise results as possible, I concentrated on the maximal power and maximal torque of the engine. The comparison of the results of the biodiesel and diesel fuel simulation showed how different fuel types influence the engine characteristics. Beside maximal power and maximal torque characteristics, the temperature and pressure in the combustion chamber and emissions were compared. According to the results of the simulations carried out on the test model, it can be concluded that the results are fairly accurate in comparison with the factory engine characteristics for diesel fuel. Based on the experiment results, it can be concluded that the biodiesel fuel has a significant influence on the capacity of the engine and that in order to ensure ecological and emission parameters the engine settings have to be adjusted.
