Abstract:Odvisnost od alkohola je svojevrstna in huda bolezen.

Title:PATHS, LEADING TO ALCOHOL DEPENDENCE
Abstract:Addiction to alcohol is a unique and severe illness. It is not only long-lasting and leaves various consequences, but it also takes quite a long time, before the patient becomes aware of it and is capable of thinking about it in a way that would allow him to cope with it. In the graduation thesis we presented the causes that lead to alcohol addiction. We described the problem of addiction to alcohol, its harmful use, the consequences and prevention of alcohol addiction. We also introduced available methods for treating alcoholism and the role of a nurse in the treatment of alcoholism. In the empirical part, we presented the results of research which we conducted in one of the Clubs for recovering alcoholics in 2012. The results were obtained from twenty treated alcoholics with an anonymous questionnaire, which contained 29 questions of open, semi-open and closed type. We wanted to determine which reasons led the respondents to excessive drinking and, consequently, to alcohol addiction and what were the most common problems they encountered during drinking alcohol. The results of the research showed that the most common reason for turning to alcohol for a half of the respondents was related to stress, escaping from reality, disputes, loss of a partner and failures, which consequently lead them to drinking alcohol as it made them feel better, more relaxed and rose their self-esteem. Majority of them stated that the most common problems they faced during drinking alcohol were difficulties with controlling the drinking and troubles at home.
