Metodologija raziskovanja. Raziskava temelji na kvantitativni metodologiji. Uporabili smo opisno metodo in metodo anketiranja. Uporabili smo delno strukturiran vprašalnik za starše in strukturiran vprašalnik za medicinske sestre. V raziskovalni vzorec smo vključili 100 naključno izbranih staršev dojenčkov in 30 medicinskih sester zaposlenih na področju pediatrije. Podatki so statistično obdelani s programom Microsoft Excel 2010 in IBM SPSS 20.0. Rezultati. Sklep.

Title:A HEALTHY DIET FOR BABIES
Abstract:The nutritional needs of babies change during time. The emphasis lies mainly on the sequence of introducing mixed nourishment into babies’ diet. Breast-feeding is important and necessary for the health of babies. When discharged from the maternity hospital 82% of the babies are breast-fed. In 2010 the Slovenian Ministry for health published »Guidelines of a healthy diet for babies«. The introduction of mixed nutrition should be between the 4th and 6th month of the baby in the following sequence: vegetable-potato-meat mash, milk-grain mash, grain-fruit mash. For the transfer of new findings and recommendations of experts from the field of baby nutrition it is highly important to educate the medical staff. The key to a successful medical education is definitely a successful communication. The aim of this Masters' thesis is to find out the nutrition of babies and the influence of diet on their health and development. We also wish to establish the meaning of medical education of the parents on a healthy diet for their babies and the knowledge of nurses about the »Guidelines of a healthy diet for babies«. Research methodology. The research is based on quantitative methodology. The descriptive methodology and survey method were used. A partly structured questionnaire for parents and a structured questionnaire for nurses were used. The research pattern included 100 randomly selected parents of babies and 30 medical nurses employed in the area of paediatrics. The data was statistically processed in the programs Microsoft Excel 2010 and IBM SPSS 20.0. The Results. The results of the research show a lacking knowledge of the sequence of introducing mixed food in the baby's dies and a fast decline in breast-fed babies after discharge from hospital. Conclusion. Medical nurses are the providers of a basic medical education and thus they have to be exactly familiar with the Guidelines for a healthy diet for babies 2010. They have to educate the parents on the importance of breast-feeding after dismissal from hospital and on the sequence of introducing mixed food into the diet of babies.
