Abstract:Diplomska naloga govori o vlomih v stanovanjske objekte in o psiholoških posledicah na žrtve vlomov.

Title:BURGLARIES IN THE RESIDENTAL BUILDINGS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES FOR THE VICTIMS OF BURGLARIES
Abstract:My thesis is about burglaries in the housing and the psychological consequences for the victims of burglaries. The occurrence of a burglary is for all very well known phenomenon and many people have met with burglary in their life either they personally or from someone in their extended family. This is one of the main reasons why I chose this topic. In terms of property crimes, burglary is quite frequent offence and it is in second place after theft by police statistics in terms of property crimes. Burglary is an act that hardly goes unnoticed and is an act after which is very difficul to remove or obliterate all traces. Burglars break in every way is possible, through the roof, shattered doors, smash windows ... Any of these actions are forcing the offender to leave behind various traces such as biological, physical, shoes traces... Police officers and investigators bear great responsibility because they must pay attention to even the smallest details of a burglary. These details may be very important in the further investigation. Because of that, securing the crime scene is one of the most important steps in investigation of a burglary. If crime scene is not well secured, it may happen that evidence and traces are lost or contaminated. Police officers have another big role when it comes to burglary and this is cooperation and talking with burglary victims. We must realize that victims are very sensitive in such moments and it is very important what kind of approach a police officer will take. The second part of the thesis is devoted to the psychological effects on burglary victims. When people realize that someone has broken in to their home they are shocked and they start to think what was stolen. However the material damage becomes a secondary issue once the initial shock passes. The biggest problem at this point becomes the fact that someone has been walking through the house, rummaging through their things, encroaching deep into their intimacy. At this time victim begins to feel different emotions such as anger, fear, powerlessness... However there are also various problems that are result from these feelings and acts of burglary itself. Victims are faced with insomnia, nervousness and with a feeling that they are no longer safe in their own home.
