Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Diplomsko delo govori o ogroženosti zdravstvenih delavcev v operacijski dvorani.

Title:Threats to health workers in the operating room
Abstract:Theoretical basis: This graduate paper discusses the threats to the health of workers in the operating room. In the theoretical part we described working conditions of medical workers, legal grounds for responsibilities and obligations of the employee regarding our safety at work. We have also pointed out the European Community Directive to protect healthcare workers from injuries caused by contaminated medical sharps. Aim of research: The aim of this research was to reveal the awareness of healthcare technicians about the threats to their own safety and health at work, and to find out, if the healthcare technicians are aware of their professional and moral responsibilities at work. We also wanted to find out, if they use personal protection equipment during their work. Methods: In the empiric part we used an anonymous questionnaire to conduct a study of sample 30 healthcare workers in the Department of Anesthetics, intensive therapy and pain therapy in UKC Maribor. Results and discussion: The research showed, that the awareness of threats for own safety and safety at work of healthcare technicians is high, despite the fact that some of them did not receive proper instructions. The professional and moral responsibility of healthcare technicians during their work is also on a very high level. The research has also shown, that despite the fact, that healthcare technicians use protective equipment there are still many injuries with medical sharps.
