Varnost razumemo kot stanje, ko smo zavarovani oz. obvarovani pred izgubo ali nevarnostjo. Naloga tehničnega varovanja je, da zazna izvajanje kaznivega dejanja ter ga poskuša preprečiti in o tem obvestiti pooblaščene osebe.
