Gostoto takega sistema smo izmerili v okviru diplomskega dela in sicer smo delali s sistemom polietilen glikol (PEG)/CO2 pri povišanih tlakih (do 450 bar).

Title:DENSITY DETERMINATION IN THE SYSTEM POLYMER/CO2
Abstract:Density is one of the most important thermodynamic properties, which is needed for chemical process design. Densities of one phase systems are mostly well researched and the data is accessible in the literature (also for one phase systems at high pressure). Data on the densities of two phase systems (or multiphase systems) is not so accessible, especially for systems at high pressures. In this work the density of the PEG/CO2 system at high pressures (up to 450 bar) was determined. PEG is a polymer with a variety of molar masses. PEG of molar masses 1500 g/mol, 3000 g/mol and 6000 g/mol, which are all in a solid state, were applied in this work. At our operating conditions (pressure between 80 bar and 450 bar, temperature between 50oC and 65oC) CO2 is in a supercritical fluid state, which means it has gas and liquid characteristics. Supercritical CO2 is one of the most commonly used SCF, because of its inertness and relatively low critical temperature and critical pressure. CO2 is often used as a solvent in extraction processes.
