Abstract:Zdrava in uravnotežena prehrana je ključnega pomena za zdravje in zdrav način življenja.

Title:Nutrition habits of nurses at work
Abstract:A healthy and balanced diet is the main point that is crucial to our health and our own lifestyle. We spend nowadays most of our time at work and it is really important what kind of diet we choose. In my thesis we have studied the importance of a healthy and balanced diet and also eating at the workplace. We conducted a survey to figure out how medical nurses are eating at work and if they were satisfied with eating alternatives. Research methodology: For this study we have used a descriptive method of work. Theoretical positions were determined by the analysis of domestic and foreign literature. As a research instrument, we used partially structured questionnaire. As a research tool we have used a partially structured questionnaire. Quantitative data was statistically analysed using the computer program Microsoft Excel and the results are illustrated in the form of frequency charts. Results: The results of the research showed the following eating habits of nurses: in most cases they don’t eat breakfast, eat not enough meals per day, they don’t drink enough liquid at work, they don’t have enough time for meal, smokers to often replace meal with cigarette. Medical staff is not satisfied with food offers in the hospital and they rarely decide to eat offered food. Therefore they should bring healthy meals from home to workplace, but unfortunately there is less than half of the questioned medical nurses who is doing that. Discussion and conclusion: Medical nurses and medical technicians, as promoters of healthy diet theoretically know what the proper way of a healthy balanced diet, but their environmental inhibitory factors and lack of self-initiative prevent their theoretical knowledge turn into practice. Every individual should take care for his healthy diet at work and also the employer should provide for sufficient time for a meal. Employer would contribute a lot if with organised diet.
