Abstract:
V diplomskem delu opišemo standard JPEG-LS in datotečni format JLS za shranjevanje slik. Standard JPEG-LS omogoča stiskanje slik z ali brez izgub; slednje je tudi opisano v tem delu. Podrobno opišemo delovanje kodirnika in pri posameznih korakih dodamo še psevdokodo izvedbe. Osnova standarda JPEG-LS je Golombovo kodiranje, ki nadomesti Huffmanovo kodiranje. Glavni koraki kodiranja slike so sestavljeni iz izračuna napake napovedi vrednosti piksla in kodiranje napake napovedi s pomočjo Golombovega kodiranja. Žal standard ni zelo razširjen, čeprav daje dobre rezultate in porabi malo sistemskih virov.

Title:
JPEG-LS STANDARD FOR LOSSLESSLY IMAGE COMPRESSION
Abstract:
This work describes standard JPEG-LS and JLS file format for storing images. Standard JPEG-LS implements lossy or lossless compression methods; the latest is described in this work. We show all steps of coder in detail and for some steps pseudocode is provided. The basis of standard JPEG-LS is Golomb coding, which replaces Huffman algorithm. The main steps of encoding image include composing prediction residuals and their Golomb coding. Unfortunately, JPEG-LS is not very popular although it provides good compression efficiency with usage of very low system resources.
