Abstract:Hardly a week passes without hearing in the media about terrorist attacks in various parts of the world. It will gradually be necessary to accept that terrorism is a negative aspect of daily life, and which has also acquired an international dimension over the years. This thesis deals with international terrorism, which knows no boundaries. The terrorist phenomenon has long been familiar to mankind; it would be a mistake to suppose that it is a relatively new phenomenon and only a product of modern society. It has, in fact, become so deeply embedded in our culture it has become a part of everyday life. The rise of terrorism has been particularly felt since the 1950s, and has been closely linked to the mass media, especially television. By the end of the 1970s, television had become the main source of information for the vast majority of the population. This represented an exceptional opportunity for terrorists to have their actions viewed by the general public, and they have taken full advantage of this opportunity. Terrorist organisations are not comprised solely of males; the number of females who join this type of organisation is on the rise. This has therefore challenged the stereotype of what a new age terrorist looks like, which spreads fear and terror among the people. According to experts, in some terrorist organisations women are actively involved in terrorist activities, sometimes in the form of direct attacks carried out by suicide bombers. Special attention has therefore been devoted to the Chechen black widows, their role in this kind of organisation, and the motives for their actions. At the same time we wanted to discover the impact of demographic factors such as gender, marital status and geographical location on the perception of campaigns against international terrorism in the Republic of Slovenia. The Social Science Data Archive served as the source for the information and research for the empirical part of thesis. The role of women in terrorist organisations was found to be significant and that they represented an increasingly important part of all types of terrorism. Terrorist acts carried out by females are becoming ever more violent in nature, on a par with those committed by males. We have also found that the respondents are often reluctant or only partially willing to take these measures. According to various demographic factors, the perception of the measures taken in the fight against international terrorism is similar.
