V diplomski nalogi so predstavljena osnovna spoznanja o morilcih (psihopatih), spoznanja o značilnostih glavnega akta – umora, o spominu na splošno, ekstremnih čustvih (travmatičnih dogodkih) in nazadnje o verodostojnosti pripovedi morilca. Skupek vseh teh dejavnikov določa verjetnost zgodbe morilca.

Abstract:To determine the credibility of the murderer’s remembrance of the murder is a crucial objective in the process of investigating a crime. In particular, when there is no substantive material evidence and information can only be acquired from the murderer. In such an event, remembrance and the credibility of information is vital as much can depend on this, even life. In this graduate thesis some basic findings about murderers (psychopaths), the lessons learned about the characteristics of the main act – murder, findings about the memory in general, extreme emotions (traumatic events), and finally the credibility of the story the murderer are presented. Criminal investigators, police officers use a variety of techniques and skills in their investigations. Mainly their attention is focused towards the whole behavioural picture. There are numerous murderers who give falsely testimonies, which is also an issue, that shall be discussed within this thesis. Who is more likely to lie, how to avoid such an even, and such an individuals their characteristics. With the help of open literature some interesting findings can be found that affect the credibility of the remembrance of the murder case of serial killer. Memory is the one, which determines the individual and his or her uniqueness. Memory is not perfect, and errors are made, which reveal the influence of the typologies of killers (single, multiple), that some killers (psychopaths) are more likely to lie than others (non- psychopaths). Moreover family, social and value structure are also important part in this puzzle. All of these are factors determine the probability of the murderer’s narrative.
