Title:GLOBAL FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC CRISIS AND ITS EFFECT ON SLOVENE FINANCIAL SYSTEM
Abstract:Burgeoning world economies, among which is also Slovene, are intertwined in up-to-date globalisation by current financial and economic crisis. Global financial and economic crisis in Slovenia, whose cause was a mortgage crisis in the USA in 2007, has caused some changes in the entire financial system – practically it affected the happenings in the bank sector, the insurance sector and the investment trust sector. The crisis in Slovenia started with a time delay and its effects mostly hurt the bank sector from the aforementioned financial point of view. Slovenian banks were forced to tighten the credit standards and reduce the range of the credit pursuits which led to the so called credit and liquidity cramp. During the analysis of the bank lending right after the independence of Slovenia when the Slovenian financial system was established till the outburst of the crisis in 2008, the deadlock of the bank lending is the most noticeable in the year 2009, therefore in the time of the crisis. A similar effect was noticeable in the sector of Slovenian insurance companies, where the insurance penetration stagnated which deteriorated the level of the insurance market. In the investment trust sector huge net capital outflows were caused by the reduction of the financial means
