Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo predstavili amputacije, spremljevalna pojava krvavitev in šok, ter pravilno prvo pomoč in oskrbo amputiranega uda.

Title:Medical treatment of amputated limb in prehospital care
Abstract:In the thesis we have presented amputations, accompanying phenomenon of bleeding and shock and correct first aid and care of an amputated limb. We warned about the problem of incorrect care of an amputated limb and its consequences for potential replantation and restoration of physiological and esthetic function of the limb. In the research part we were interested in stage of awareness and knowledge of first aid in connection with amputations among laymen. We have acquired theoretical origins by analyzing domestic and foreign professional literature. We have used questioning method by performing a survey for the research part of the thesis. By analyzing literature we have determined that there is also a deficit in knowledge among professionals and that there are contradictory claims about correct care of an amputated limb. The most up to date rule says that an amputated limb should be transported wrapped in a sterile gauze, which is than to be put in an air tight clean plastic bag. We put the first bag into the second one containing water and crushed ice, so that the first bag floats in the liquid. We have to be carefull that the amputated limb doesn’t touch the ice, to prevent additional damage and prevent frostbite. The temperature of the water should not be lower than 4 and should not exceed 6 degrees Celsius. At the end we put both bags into a third bag, to prevent spilling. Results of the survey have shown that respondents know basic first aid and priorities in case of amputations, but lack knowledge of correct procedure and correct keeping and transporting of amputated limb with a purpose of preserving it in a best condition for possible replantation. We have determined that there is potential for improving the state of knowledge among laymen, since they want to deepen their knowledge of first aid.
