Abstract:
V diplomski nalogi smo raziskali in predstavili prehod na internetni protokol IPv6, raziskali smo njegovo strukturo delovanja ter naredili primerjavo s trenutnim internetnim protokolom IPv4. Osredotočili smo se na prednosti in nove funkcionalnosti prihajajočega protokola omrežja vseh omrežij. Ugotavljali smo, kako bodo te spremembe vplivale na poslovne in zasebne uporabnike in kaj vse bo potrebno prilagoditi novemu protokolu. Raziskali smo tudi, kako se je Slovenija pripravila na prihajajoči internetni protokol IPv6 ter kako smo pri tem konkurenčni drugim državam, ki ta protokol uvajajo že več let.

Title:
TRANSITION TO INTERNET PROTOCOL IPv6
Abstract:
In this graduation thesis transition to the IPv6 Internet was researched and presented, the protocol structure was studied and comparison with the current Internet Protocol, IPv4 was made. The focus was on the benefits and new features of the newcoming Internet Protocol. How this transition will affect the business and private users was studied, and which adaptions will be necessary to be ready for a new protocol, was elaborated as well. How Slovenia is prepared for the upcoming IPv6 Internet was checked, and Slovenia’s competitiveness with other countries was compared, where some of them are introducing this protocol for several years.
