Abstract:	V diplomskem delu je predstavljen paraplegik, njegova družina, problematika paraplegikov, možni zapleti pri paraplegiji, ovire s katerimi se srečuje in se je srečeval tako v domačem, kot v javnem okolju. Predstavljene so tudi nekatere zakonske ureditve pri odpravljanju ovir in sankcije pri neupoštevanju le teh, predstavljena je vloga patronažne medicinske sestre, Zveza paraplegikov Slovenije ter Društvo paraplegikov severne Štajerske. Metodologija raziskovanja: Namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti s katerimi ovirami se srečujejo paraplegiki v domačem in javnem okolju. Uporabili smo deskriptivno metodo dela. Podatke za raziskovalni del smo pridobili s pomočjo anonimnega vprašalnika, ki je sestavljen iz vprašanj odprtega in zaprtega tipa. V raziskavo je bilo vključenih trideset paraplegikov iz Maribora in ožje okolice, ki so člani Društva paraplegikov severne Štajerske. Rezultati raziskave: Rezultati so pokazali, da večina anketiranih paraplegikov živi v skupnosti s partnerjem ali družino in največ jih živi v lastni hiši. Večina ima dom prilagojen njihovim potrebam, dobra polovica anketiranih lahko vsakodnevne aktivnosti opravi sama. Dobra tretjina je navedla, da ne potrebujejo nikakršne pomoči, ostali pa potrebujejo pomoč pri čiščenju, dostavi pripomočkov, nakupih, in obisk patronažne medicinske sestre. Doma so jim najpogostejše ovire stopnice, ozka vrata, veliko pa jih je tudi navedlo, da doma nimajo ovir. V javnem okolju so najpogostejša ovira zasedena parkirna mesta namenjena invalidom in neočiščeni pločniki pozimi. Slaba tretjina anketiranih se srečuje tudi s težjo zaposljivostjo. Pri premagovanju ovir jim najbolj pogosto stojijo ob strani svojci in prijatelji, vendar kljub temu bi večina sprejela pomoč prostovoljcev. Najpogostejše zdravstvene težave so uhajanje vode, spazmi in utrudljivost. Sklep: Družba bi morala spremeniti odnos do invalidov, kot so paraplegiki in več pozornosti nameniti pri gradnji javnih stavb in javnih površin, saj bi tako omogočili večjo dostopnost in enakovrednost te skupine ljudi.

Title:	Obstacles for paraplegics in domestic and public environment
Abstract:	The thesis presents a paraplegic, his family, the problems of paraplegics, possible complications of paraplegia and obstacles that he experiences in domestic and public environment. It also presents some regulations in Slovenia, how to overcome the barriers which paraplegics have to face and sanctions for non-compliance with these regulations. Furthermore, the thesis discusses the role of a community nurse, Paraplegic Association of Slovenia and the Paraplegic Association of Northern Štajerska. Research methodology: The purpose of this study was to determine the obstacles which paraplegics face in domestic and public environment. A descriptive method was used for this purpose. In order to collect the necessary data for the research, an anonymous questionnaire, consisting of open-ended and closed-ended questions, was used. The study included thirty paraplegics from Maribor and its immediate surroundings who are members of the Association of Paraplegics of northern Štajerska. Research results: The results showed that most paraplegics live in the community with their partner or family in their own houses. Most have a home adjusted to their needs so that half of them can carry out everyday activities themselves. Over one-third respondents stated that they do not need any assistance, while others need help with cleaning, device delivery and shopping. What is more, this group also needs visits from the community nurse. The most common obstacles these people experience at home are stairs and narrow doors. However, many respondents stated that they have no obstacles at home. The most common obstacles in public environment are occupied parking spaces for the disabled and not cleaned sidewalks in winter. About one third of the respondents has problems with employability. Despite the fact that relatives and friends are usually the ones who help the disabled overcome these obstacles, the disabled would, according to the questionnaire, accept the help provided by volunteers. The most common health problems of paraplegics are OAB "overactive bladder", spasms and fatigue. Conclusion: To conclude, the society should change its attitude towards people with disabilities and adjust the construction of public buildings and public spaces for people with disabilities. This would allow people with disabilities to be equal to others.
