Cilji so bili ugotoviti povezanost pojavljanja apokaliptičnih vizij z ekonomskimi krizami, ugotavljanje prevladujočih ideoloških ozadij, preverjanje znanstvenosti najdenih člankov in ugotavljanje, kako se pojavljanje apokaliptičnih idej spreminja skozi čas.

Title:MEDIA REPRESENTATIONS OF APOCALYPTIC VISIONS IN SLOVENIAN ESOTERIC MAGAZINES
Abstract:The main purpose of this diploma thesis was the analysis of contents related to apocalyptic ideas in two Slovene esoteric magazines, Aura and Misteriji, between 1993 and 2012. The objectives were to establish connectedness of the occurrences of apocalyptic visions and economic crises; establishing the prevailing ideological backgrounds; testing the scientific aspect of the found articles; and establishing how appearance of apocalyptic ideas has changed over time. With qualitative in quantitative method of content analysis we tested four hypotheses by comparing the number of articles with the average growth of GDP (gross domestic product); we searched for elements that indicate ideological backgrounds of articles; we searched for direct references from researches and other scientific discoveries in the field of apocalyptic ideas; and we searched for statements that either confirm or negate apocalyptic future. The results have shown that there is a partial correlation between the number of published articles and economic situation. We established that prophecies are the most common ideological background in the articles; that scientific arguments are becoming more frequent in the articles; and that this affects the increase of doubt in apocalyptic events.
