Abstract:Diplomska naloga obravnava življenje na Murskem polju nekoč in danes. V diplomski nalogi so opisane šege, navade in verovanja ob rojstvu, poroki in smrti. To so šege življenjskega kroga. Obujajo in ohranjajo jih nekatera kulturna in folklorna društva. Za boljše razumevanje načina življenja so opisane karakterne značilnosti Muropoljcev ter kratek geografski in zgodovinski pregled Murskega polja.

Title:FOLK CUSTOMS, HABITS AND SUPERSTITIONS AT MURSKO FIELD IN THE PAST AND TODAY
Abstract:In my thesis I discuss the life at Mursko field in the past and today. The emphasis is on folk customs, habits and superstitions that were present in the lives of people from birth to death as a major part during all important holidays and working chores. The thesis contains descriptions of folk customs, habits and superstitions at birth, weddings and death. They are the folk customs of the life circle. Calendar folk customs are divided according to seasons to winter, spring, summer and autumn customs. All the customs went through minor or bigger changes, some of them completely died down ( St. Barbara's day on 4th December , St. George's day on 24th April, St. Lucy's Day on 13th December and St. Florian's day on 4th May) or some new customs appeared (Santa Claus/ Father Christmas, Valentine's Day). The most changes happened with folk customs connected to manual work, because the mechanisation pushed the majority of them out from the country life (threshing, retting, husking). Some of these customs are revived and preserved by some cultural societies and folk groups. For the better understanding of the way of life there are described some basic characteristic features of the people living at Mursko field, as well as a short geographical and historical overview of the region of Mursko field.
Keywords:folk customs, habits, superstitions, Mursko field.
