Title:Autism as a social-healt problem for children and their families
Abstract:Starting point: Autism, which most commonly occurs in children, is a growing problem of modern times. It is very difficult to identify it in early childhood, that is why further complicates the work of the health profession. In the world there are a lot of well-known methods which help children with autism and their families as well. In Slovenia this topic is even more undefinied, so in this area it will be necessary a lot more to do. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to present autism as a social-health problem of the child and his family and bring closer to typical problems of autistic child to the rest of the population. Method of work: To write the thesis, that is theoretical in nature, we used a descriptive method. We have obtained the information by reading stories of famous authors, articles, newspaper sources, professional literature in Slovenian and foreign language as well as browsing internet pages. Discussion and conclusion: Children with autism are very difficult to establish contacts with the environment, problems can be seen in the field of communication and interaction with peers. At least in initial phase people with autism need help to teach them independent living and the provision of daily living activities. In the majority, 70 %, along autism are present depression, anorexia and other anxiety conditions, such as various forms of psychological problems, and therefore a multidisciplinary approach is needed from all points of view.
