Za kvalitativno karakterizacijo sintetiziranih produktov in prevleke smo uporabili rentgensko praškovno difrakcijo (XRD). S pomočjo dinamičnega sipanja laserske svetlobe (DLS) smo opazovali spreminjanje velikosti, polidisperznega indeksa in zeta potenciala nanodelcev silike. Vezavo posameznih funkcionalnih skupin na nanodelce železovih oksidov smo spremljali s Fourierjevo transformacijsko infrardečo spektroskopijo (FTIR). S transmisijsko elektronsko mikroskopijo (TEM) smo določili morfologijo sintetiziranih nanodelcev in opazovali uspešnost vezave prevleke iz zlata.

Title:SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF IRON OXIDES NANOPARTICLES WITH GOLD COATING
Abstract:The aim of the diploma thesis was the synthesis of magnetite (Fe3O4) and maghemite (γ–Fe2O3) nanoparticles by coprecipitation method, the synthesis of silica nanoparticles by Stöber method and an attempt to coat these nanoparticles with gold. Gold nanoparticles have an appropriate surface on which a variety of active components for the cancer treatments can be attached. In the syntheses of iron oxides, we observed the influence of the type of iron salts on the properties of the nanoparticles. During the process of gold coating we studied the use of different reductants, time of reduction and the amount of added HAuCl4. For a qualitative characterization of the synthesized gold coated nanoparticles we used X–ray diffraction (XRD). With the help of a dynamic laser light scattering (DLS) we monitored the changes of size, the polydispersion index and the zeta potential of silica nanoparticles. The binding of specific functional groups on the nanoparticles of iron oxides was observed with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The morphology of synthesized nanoparticles and the effectiveness of gold coating was determined with the transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
