Abstract:

Title:
Einstein's oscillation modes for atoms in the cages of the clathrate Cs8Na16Ge136
Abstract:
In this seminar we describe the known models for specific heat of solids. Measurements of the specific heat capacity of clathrate Cs8Na16Ge136 are fitted with functions given by the Einstein and Debye equations for specific heat of solids. From fitting we obtain the Debye and Einstein temperatures and explain their values by the structure of the type II clathrate. We compare the specific heat of Cs8Na16Ge136 with specific heat of Na24Si136 and empty clathrate Ge136. From the comparison we deduce the effect of the guest, rattling inside cages of clathrate, on the specific heat capacity.
