Abstract:Dandanes smo priča, kako se težišča gospodarske in politične moči hitro spreminjajo.

Title:PROTECTIONIST MEASURES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AGAINST COMPETITION FROM ASIAN COUNTRIES
Abstract:Today we are witnessing that the center of economic and political power is changing rapidly. International trade is growing and is greater than ever before in history. The reason for increased international trade can be found in a number of signed international trade agreements and the impact of the World Trade Organisation, which attempts to liberalize the global market. However, the economic crisis is having a major impact on international trade, and despite signed agreement, which would allow free trade, there still comes to the international conflicts, and as well resorting to the defensive government intervention. A dispute has been arisen beacuse of »too cheap« exports to the European Union, which is not justified according to European producers, and threatens many jobs in the Union. Therefore, the European Union is committed to protect their producers, but this brings good and bad consequences. On one hand, the action is fully justified because it prevents the destruction of European industry caused by the Asian unfair competition. On the other hand, many countries of the Union began to advocate that the measures are no longer needed. Because some countries do not want to get into a dispute with Asian countries and particularly not whit China, which represents the major European countries promising market in the future. This would result in further damage to the already damaged European economy. Soon the European Union would have to slowly understand that this is primarily a political project. That the fast-growing Asian economy is based on state subsidies and dumping, and that we will witnessing conflict interests of the two superpowers for some time. At the same time it started again to appear protectionist ideas from some countries, but could bring more serious consequences in this critical time.
Keywords:protectionism, dumpng, antidumping measures, customs, trade agreements, actions of the European Union.
