Abstract:Učenci s čustvenimi in vedenjskimi problemi kažejo visoko stopnjo motečega vedenja, primanjkljaje na področju socialnih spretnosti in na učnem področju. Težave imajo pri oblikovanju in vzdrževanju zadovoljivih medosebnih odnosov, izkazovanju prosocialnih vedenjskih vzorcev in socialni sprejetosti s strani vrstnikov in učiteljev.

Title:SOCIAL SKILLS OF PUPILS WITH EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS
Abstract:Pupils with emotional and behavioural problems (EBP) typically exhibit both high levels of problem behaviour and deficits in social and academic skills. They have difficulties in forming and maintaining satisfactory interpersonal relationship, exhibition of prosocial behaviour patterns, and social acceptance by peers and teachers. The principal aim of our study was to find out whether there are differences in social skills between pupils with EBP and their peers and in which domains of social skills difficulties occur. A sample of 32 pupils with EBD attending self-contained classes at the Primary school Veržej and receiving special education services for EBD (29 boys and 3 girls) with the age range of 12 up to 16 years, was compared with 32 pupils without EBD. To collect data,Questionnaire of interpersonal difficulties in adolescence,Test of social skills for children and adolescents and Questionnaire of school achievement were completed by pupils. The study findings confirm the results of other studies that pupils with EBD have social skills deficits. They have statistically significantly more problems in relationship with friends and show statistically significantly more hostility and selfishness in relations with peers; there is also tendency to be less assertive than peers. We have also confirmed statistically significant difference between the two groups in school achievement.
