Abstract:Izhodišča: V diplomskem delu smo se lotili vprašanja, kako stres vpliva na delo reševalcev v prehospitalni enoti nujne medicinske pomoči.

Title:Work related stress in emergency medical service
Abstract:Background: In this thesis we have highlighted the question of how the stress affects the work of paramedics in the prehospital unit of emergency medical service. Every day the paramedics and doctors of the emergency medical service deal with situations that affect their work, their well-being, mental stability and especially their health - From the tragic accidents they witness every day to the moments when they would not change their mission for anything else in the world. In this research we have examined what causes the highest amounts of stress for paramedics and whether they have the chance of getting any professional assistance. In the theoretical part of the thesis we used the descriptive research method, with the help of Slovenian and foreign literature. For the empirical part of the thesis we used the qualitative research method. The acquired data was then analyzed with microsoft Excel and illustrated with graphs. Results: We established that the paramedics who are working in the emergency medical service of the prehospital unit are faced with stress in their workplace. We also established that half of the respondents in the survey are not aware that they are under stress. Conclusions: We need to be aware of the fact that there are jobs with certain levels of stress and stressful situations, but with good interpersonal relationships, physical activities and healthy lifestyle its influence can be decreased and controlled.
