Abstract:
S ciljem ugotoviti optimalno globino setve lucerne smo v letu 2013 izvedli poljski in lončni poskus. V obeh poskusih, zasnovanih po metodi naključnih blokov v štirih ponovitvah, smo lucerno sejali na globine 1, 3 ali 6 cm. V poljskem poskusu nismo ugotovili statistično signifikantnih razlik v številu vzniklih rastlin med globinami setve 1 in 3 cm, medtem ko je bilo število vzniklih rastlin pri globlji setvi signifikantno manjše. V lončnem poskusu se je število vzniklih rastlin lucerne signifikantno razlikovalo med vsemi globinami setve ob najboljšem vzniku pri plitvejši setvi. Pridobljeni rezultati potrjujejo navedbe nekaterih avtorjev, da je treba lucerno sejati v globino približno 1cm ali le malo globlje.

Title:
The influence of sowing depth on emergence of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)
Abstract:
In 2013, we performed an experiment aimed at discovering the optimal sowing depth of alfalfa seeds. We sowed alfalfa on a field as well as on experimental pots. Sowing was based on the method of random blocks in four repetitions. We sowed alfalfa 1, 3 and 6 cm deep. In the field experiment did not find any statistically significant differences in the number of emerged plants sowed at 1 and 3 cm depth, while the number of emerged plants in deeper sowing was significantly lower. In the pot experiment, the number of emerged plants was significantly different between all sowing depths, while the number of emerged plants was the highest at shallow sowing. Our results are comparable to the results of other authors which also found that alfalfa should be sowed in depth of 1 cm or only a little deeper.
